Making Graphs with Excel

·        Select your data. You can highlight your data using your mouse.

·        Select only the data, not headers and labels.

·        Click on the Chart Wizard icon, .  

·        When the window pops up, first choose the kind of graph you want.  Basic graphs like bar, line, area, and scatter are under the Standard Types tab, while more complex graphs like double-axis line, line-column, and logarithmic are under the Custom Types tab. 

·        If you're using a graph from Standard Types, pick the sub-type from the choices at the right. 

·        Then click on Next. 

For this graph, let's use an X-Y graph
 

Click Next >

A new window will show



   Click Next >

   Enter a title, the X-axis label, and the Y-axis label

 

 

                    Click Next >

Now the Wizard will prompt you to where you want to chart your graph.  You can either insert it as an object in a current spreadsheet, or make it its own individual sheet.   If you are planning to print the graph, then it is probably preferable for you to put the graph on a new sheet. 


Click
Finish

Adjust the dimensions of the graph to make it the way you would like it.  That is, you can drag the graph to make it larger or shorter by selecting the any of the black little squares on the corner of the graph.

Remove the legend by clicking on it and pressing the delete button (Del).  In general, a legend is not needed in a plot with only one data series.
